Fitness Components (Parts of Fitness)

Cardio-Respiratory Endurance - (CRE) fitness of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels; the ability to exercise the body over long periods of time.  Below are some exercises to improve this fitness component:

  •  jogging, biking, swimming, jumping rope, soccer, basketball, skiing, skating

Muscular Strength - the amount of force your muscles can produce; the maximal force that you can exert when you contract your muscles.  Below are some exercises to improve this fitness component:

  • push-ups, chin-ups, lift weights

Flexibility - the range of motion of a joint and muscle groups around the joint; the elasticity of muscles and connective tissues, which determines the range of motion of the joints.  Below are some exercises to improve this fitness component:  read more »
