Meet Your Teacher

My name is Doretta Dorsch. I was born and grew up in the country in western Pa. I attended Eastern Mennonite University where I received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. I lived in Kenya (E. Africa) for 5 years following graduation. I taught second grade there for 3 of those 5 years. Other teaching experiences have been in Pa., Va. and now Maryland for my 27 years. I joined TPS five years ago. This will begin my 6th year. Twenty-two of my twenty-seven years have been in second grade. This year I will be only teaching Language Arts in the afternoon.

I have been married for 34 years to Jim Dorsch who teaches at Frederick County Career and Technology Center. We have two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle. We live in Frederick. For the past four summers we have spent many weeks with disaster response programs helping to rebuild houses and lives from disasters in Florida, Louisiana and Indiana. I enjoy walking, reading, cooking, singing, visiting with family and friends and traveling. My husband and I have traveled to 5 continents throughout our years together.
