My name is Ellen Slotwinski.  I grew up in Maryland in a town called Cheverly, which is very close to Washington, D.C.  I have one younger sister who also still lives in Maryland.  When I was younger I loved going to the museums and I also liked swimming, roller skating, and riding my bike with friends.

I left Maryland to attend Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio.  There I earned my undergraduate degree in Communication Arts.  When I returned home I decided to continue my education and pursued a Masters in Teaching at Trinity College in DC. 

When my academic work was complete I began teaching first grade in Montgomery County Public Schools where I worked for six years.  When my family decided to relocate to Emmitsburg in 2003 I began teaching full-day Kindergarten for one year at North Frederick ES and then transferred to TPS.  My first year at TPS I taught first grade, but when a position opened up in kindergarten I requested a move and have been teaching full-day kindergarten ever since then.

My husband and I were married in the Loyola College Alumni Chapel in Baltimore MD in 1994.  We have two children, Paul and Colleen, who both attend Thurmont schools.  Our son is active in Boy Scouts and sports. Our daughter loves animals and enjoys horseback riding.  We have two high energy dogs that keep us on our toes.  We love living in the Northern Frederick area.

Nowadays I spend time taking my children on new adventures around the area.  I love watching the blue birds nest, grow, and feed in my backyard, and reading good mysteries.  Each Summer I look forward to spending time at the beach, which I think is the best summer vacation.  I look forward to getting to know each of your children and working with them and you throughout the coming school year.
