Hello, I'm Barbara Saenger, first grade teacher at Urbana Elementary.

I earned my B.A. degree in Education from Westminster College in Pennsylvania.  I earned my Masters degree in Communication Studies from West Virginia University.

This is my 29th year of teaching.  My first 8 years I taught 5th, 1st and 6th grade in West Virginia.  When I moved here to Frederick I taught 1st grade and the Renzulli program at South Frederick Elementary (now renamed Lincoln Elementary).  I have been here at Urbana Elementary since 1992.  I have taught the 2nd grade magnet program, 3rd grade, 5th grade and I'm now teaching 1st grade again.

I believe that every child has a gift to offer.  It is my joy to help unearth those gifts!  I feel that I am truly blessed to wake up every day excited to go to "work."  My classroom is a place that fosters learning for everyone . . . even me.
