Hello, my name is Vicki Foster, third grade teacher at Urbana Elementary.  Welcome to my webpage!

I will complete my 34th year of teaching in December 2009.  My first year of teaching was in kindergarten at Myersville Elementary.  The last 33 years I have had the priviledge to teach at Urbana Elementary.  I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade and  currently third grade.

My primary goal as a classroom teacher is to cultivate a learning climate that enables all children to be free to take risks.  I think learning will occur if each child feels comfortable in the classroom.  I believe that learning should be exciting for the student and me.  If I'm not having fun teaching, chances are they are not having fun learning!    When you walk into my classroom, you will notice that we have a large library.  The love of reading is a huge part of our classroom climate. 

I am a member of our school improvement team, and the chair of the math/science committee. 

I completed my undergraduate work at Frostburg State University and did my graduate work at Hood College.

On a personel level I was born and raised in Frederick City and I am a product of Frederick County Public Schools.  I am married and have one grown son.  My interests include being an avid reader, and I also greatly enjoy walking and antiquing.
