Hello, my name is Jonathan Boehmer.  I am the full-time music teacher here at Urbana Elementary.  Hopefully, through this page you will be able to learn about myself, and what will be taught in my classroom

This year I will be going into my fifth year of teaching.  I am a graduate of West Virginia University, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.  After college I accepted a job teaching elementary general musci in Anne Arundel County.  I spent two years there, but decided that I wanted to teach music where I grew up.  In 2007, I was the part-time teacher at Ballenger Creek and North Frederick Elementary Schools.

I am excited to be teaching at Urbana Elementary School.  I look forward to watching your students grow musically as the year progresses.  As a teacher, my expectations for student achievement are always high.  I will always make sure the environment in my classroom is one that allows students to achieve at a high level.  When students walk into my classroom I do my best to help the students feel safe, and able to explore the world of music that is around them.

Music class will be filled with many activities.  Students will express feelings through movement, perform accompaniments to learned songs in class, and have the ability to create their own music.

I'm excited to share my knowledge of music will all of Urbana Elementary School.  I look forward to not only teaching, but learning from those around me too.
